We refuse to look the other way!

Dear Raglan Ripper blog readers! The petition site here http://www.thepetitionsite.com/187/943/330/justice-for-raglan-cats/,
has been receiving information on the identities of the killers in Raglan. Please, if you have any information, any evidence SHARE it in the comments section below or email ctsarmygreen@gmail.com.

We are getting closer and closer to bringing the killers to justice, but we need your continued help.

If you haven’t signed the petition—DO SO NOW! We need every name, every signature, to keep the pressure on.

Witnesses say they have seen the killing and have heard the killer brag about killing cats and kittens! What kind of monster could do this, repeatedly, for years? And why, WHY?? do the police and other law enforcement authorities do nothing? Obviously, they have no worries about having individuals in the community who kill companion animals in cold blood—just for their own amusement.

There is a real sickness in Raglan that must be cured! Please help us put a stop to the killing. Send any information you have to ctsarmygreen@gmail.com .

The link between animal abuse and human violence-Beware Raglan!

For decades, researchers have proven that there is a direct link between violence against animals and violence against humans. Dozens of those who have signed the petition to bring to justice the killers of Raglan note this connection. Just look at the comments from those who demand action from a council, police department and city that would rather turn a blind eye to the violence in their midst.

This is a short list of mass murderers who killed animals before turning to humans:

"lbert DeSalvo (the “Boston Strangler”), who killed 13 women, trapped dogs and cats and shot arrows at them through boxes in his youth. Serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer impaled frogs, cats, and dogs’ heads on sticks. Dennis Rader (the BTK killer), who terrorized people in Kansas, wrote in a chronological account of his childhood that he hanged a dog and a cat. During the trial of convicted sniper Lee Boyd Malvo, a psychology professor testified that the teenager, who killed 10 people with a rifle, had “pelted—and probably killed—numerous cats with marbles from a slingshot when he was about 14.”

As horrible as these accounts are, they must be taken into consideration when known and documented cases of cat killings have been reported.

Do not allow this to continue in Raglan, New Zealand! Don't let these killers go free to eventually turn their evil sites on humans! Sign the petition that will force Raglan authorities to take action against this violence against companion animals!

What kind of community allows this violence to continue? STOP THE VIOLENCE!

Cats are way cheaper than poison!

The government of New Zealand plans to spend $21 million to spread the poison 1080 in an effort to kill an expected explosion in rat and stoat populations over the next five years.

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11193880

But, killers are doing away with one of New Zealand's best rat and stoat controls--cats. While cats cannot completely control the level of rodents expected, they could certainly help---if they're not DEAD! To quote the article above, " Rats, stoats and possums kill an estimated 25 million native birds a year, or 2000 birds every hour."

"Stoats are considered the biggest threat to all New Zealand native birds. Stoats are awesome hunters. They are by far the most threatening predator to all kiwi chicks."

http://www.projectkiwi.org.nz/index.asp?s1=Ecosystem&s2=Predators

Look at these nasties eating chicks--retrieved from http://static.stuff.co.nz/1353011813/278/7959278.jpg

Do cats kill birds? Sure, but they are only one in a long list of predators and do in fact, kill fewer birds than rats, stoats, weasels, possums and DOGS!

"All dogs, regardless of size, breed, training or temperament are potential kiwi killers. Farm dogs, hunting dogs, visiting dogs and pet dogs are equally attracted to the strong distinctive scent of kiwi."

So there, leave the cats alone and work on some of the bigger problems for birds in New Zealand! Stop blaming cats alone for declining native bird populations, when in fact, they could help by killing rodents feeding on eggs and hatchlings.

Cats: top predator? NOT TRUE!

The following is a comprehensive, well-researched study of predatory animals and their behavior in New Zealand. This research indicates that cats are the least of Raglan's problems as related to bird predation. Read and learn!

Cats: top predator?

The idea that Cats must Go, put forward by Gareth Morgan fails to take account of the multiple predators introduced to New Zealand over time. A fairly cursory look at Te Ara produced the following information, which puts the predation by cats in perspective. You may be surprised to find that the cat is an ‘also ran’ usually beaten out of first place by rats and mustelids (stoats and weasels). Don’t believe me? Check out the original entries in the Encyclopedia. You will find that I have faithfully copied the information across.

Excerpts from Te Ara, The Encyclopedia of New Zealand.

{Kiwi} Predators

Because kiwi hatchlings are left at such a young age, they are vulnerable to predators. It is speculated they might have become nocturnal to avoid the Haast’s eagle, now extinct.

Introduced animals are a more severe threat. The most dangerous are stoats, which feast on the young birds. Kiwi chicks can resist stoat attacks once they weigh about 1 kilogram, but this is not until they are 40 weeks old. Other predators include dogs, feral cats and even wild pigs, which dig up kiwi burrows. Weka are known to eat kiwi eggs.

Only about 5% of wild kiwi chicks survive the first six months. Once there were an estimated 12 million kiwi, but by 2006 there were fewer than 100,000.

{Rabbits} Trying to control Rabbits, Methods that have been tried include: …

·         using predators such as ferrets, stoats and weasels. These were released in New Zealand, but they hunted native birds, and did not kill as many rabbits as expected

Predators

Mammal predators pose the biggest threat to native reptiles. Kiore or Pacific rats (Rattus exulans) arrived with Polynesians about 1250–1300 AD and caused the extinction of some lizards on the mainland and on the smaller islands. In the late 1700s and early 1800s, European rats, mustelids (ferrets, stoats and weasels) and cats caused another wave of local extinctions.

Extinctions

At least three lizard species have become extinct since people first discovered New Zealand. Eight species have become extinct on the mainland but survive on islands where there are few predators. Those surviving on the mainland are less common than they once were.

Large, nocturnal species are most likely to become extinct, as mammalian predators usually hunt at night. For example, all large species in the genus Oligosoma are nocturnal. Large species are all but restricted to rat-free islands, and small species still occur on the North Island. All were once widespread across the North Island. Even large, day-active lizards are vulnerable to predators and today occur only in small, widely separated populations – just a portion of their original range.

Endangered species

Almost half of New Zealand's reptiles are threatened or endangered. It is now illegal to handle or keep in captivity any native lizard without a permit from the Department of Conservation.

Some, such as the spotted skink (Oligosoma lineoocellatum), are still widespread, although their numbers are probably dwindling. Others are endangered, including the Otago and grand skinks, two of the country’s largest (up to 30 centimetres long). They live in mountain tussocklands in Central Otago, but occupy only one-tenth of their original range. The reason for this is unclear. They may have fallen prey to cats, especially in winter, when cats are hungry and lizards slow. Natural fires and agricultural development are also threats. Research is under way to manage these hazards and help these species recover.

Until recently there have been few attempts to save endangered or rare reptiles from extinction. The eradication of rats from islands such as the Mercury Islands off Coromandel Peninsula has brought new hope for some lizard species. Rats are well controlled by cat populations.

{Weta}

Giant wētā

Giant wētā (genus Deinacrida) are predominantly herbivorous. They are not as social as tree wētā and tend to occupy temporary, poorly protected shelters by day, which exposes them to predators.

Giant wētā did not survive long in lowland areas after the arrival of humans and rats in New Zealand. Of the 11 giant wētā species, only six still occur on mainland New Zealand – in the South Island mountains, above the level where rats live. The other species now survive only on offshore islands.

Wētāpunga

The most impressive wētā is the wētāpunga (Deinacrida heteracantha), a species of giant wētā now confined to Little Barrier Island. Females reach a body length of 7.5 centimetres, and their hind legs are 13 centimetres if stretched out. Like other lowland giant wētā species, these giants of the insect world were extinct on mainland New Zealand by 1900, killed by rats.

You have an Army behind you!

8 March, 2014

The CTS Army is on the move to identify the Raglan Ripper! Any intelligence on who the killers are should be reported to this blog in comments which will be used to confront the cowardly killers.

The killings must be stopped and the killers brought to JUSTICE!

Did you know that there is a proven link between violence against animals and violence against humans? Someone who will kill an animal in cold blood will think nothing of hurting a human. See the proof:

http://www.humanesociety.org/issues/abuse_neglect/qa/cruelty_violence_connection_faq.html

http://aldf.org/resources/when-your-companion-animal-has-been-harmed/no-boundaries-for-abusers-the-link-between-cruelty-to-animals-and-violence-toward-humans/

http://www.incasa.org/PDF/2011/animal_human_violence.pdf

These people are killers, plain and simple, and care nothing for the lives they have taken or the fear and anguish they cause to their neighbors.

Now is the time to take action against these killers! Stand strong and know that an Army stands with you!

___________________________________________________________________

What makes a killer? Hate? Fear? Insanity? Why would someone destroy a life whose sole purpose is to give joy and companionship? Why would someone wantonly take that joy and companionship away from a fellow human? These are the questions posed by many residents of Raglan, NZ and by the over 9,000 soldiers of the CTS Army. Below is proof of the anguish:

"The next morning I went to check the rubbish bag and sure enough, my cat Max was inside of it, dead and frozen,"http://www.3news.co.nz/Hunt-on-for-Raglans-cat-killer/tabid/1160/articleID/329177/Default.aspx#ixzz2v0jTyGx7

"I'm on the hunt to get the hell out of here 'cause I'm done with it," she said. "Six cats gone so I'm not going through that again and I'm not putting my kids through that again, and I believe it would happen again."

This blog will report on the war waged against these killers and will seek to unite a world of animal lovers to put pressure on authorities who look the other way while the residents of Raglan mourn the loss of companions cruelly killed by those who are too cowardly to admit their crimes in public. The killing must STOP and the perpetrators brought to JUSTICE.

There is an ARMY waging war against these killers! Be afraid! Be very afraid!

To the residents of Raglan who have lost loved ones to these killers, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. The CTS Army stands with you and we support your demand to stop the killing and bring the murderers to justice!
